Adoption has directly impacted the lives of more than 300,000 Australians

Adopted people are often without a peer support network and we are here to change that.

Let’s build our community together

Our Projects

  • Are you a Late Discovery Adoptee ?

An unknown number of people still do not know they are adopted!

We want the WA government to reverse their decision AND support recommendation #36 from the inquiry.

This reform would require the government to develope a trauma informed notifcation system to let adopted people know they are adopted.

Read more about this issue below.

  • Albany Adoptee Support Group

  • 2024 WA Inquiry

It took 2 years of lobbying the WA Labor Government!

Our Chair, Jen McRae was the lead advocate and principal petitioner for the WA inquiry into forced adoption. Read the report here…

  • Renaming the Beryl Grant Community Centre (Albany)

Owned by Juniper Aged Care, the BGCC is named after one of WA's most prolific facilitators of forced adoption.

In June 2024 the community centre was renamed and we thank Juniper Aged Care for listening to our concerns.

  • Jane's mobile library

Check out and take home a piece of (mostly) Australian adoptee literature. Jane has a diverse collection of Adoptee memoir and related works of truth telling.

  • Advocacy with decision makers

We have developed healthy networks with West Australian parliamentarians from across the political divide.

We welcome respectful dialogue with anyone who would like to learn more about the lifelong impacts forced adoption has had on adopted people.

  • Project Funding

We've got some big ideas that need funding. Maybe you are keen to help and be part of our change making ?

  • Australian Digital Museum of Adoption

Digital collection of historical objects, documents, paraphrenalia, quotes, newspaper clippings and more.

Email GSASG with a photo and description of your artefact for inclusion in the museum
